05 Prepare : Reading

Before coming to class, please study the material from the following sections in your textbook:

• 2.3 Turning Data Into Probabilities

Also, please watch this 10 minute YouTube video as a refresher of probabilities (join, marginal, etc.):

• YouTube: Joint, marginal conditional distributions, and Bayes' Rule

Then, read at least the following sections from the Wikipedia article on the Naive Bayes classifier:

• The heading (before the table of contents)

• 1. Introduction

• 2. Probabilistic model

• (You can read the whole article if you wish, but it gets a little deeper into continuous values than we will have time for in class)
